Investment Strategy : Diversification

My Investment Strategy at the moment is Diversification

MARC FABER : My investment strategy during this time is that you have to diversify and minimize your risks from economic, political, geopolitical and other factors. Your portfolio should include properties, stocks and equities, corporate bonds, gold and silver, plus cash. It should be 25 per cent of each, or 125 per cent - just to mimic the US accounting standard where things now do not add up.

Diversification as an Investment strategy

Marc Faber : well I think it is very important to maintain diversification , I would advise to be 25 to 30 percent in equities with a large portion in overseas equities in particular emerging economies , I would advise him to hold some gold 25 percent or so , where by I think that for the next 6 months gold would rather decline than go up and I would hold some cash and bonds and then I would own may be 25 percent in real estate- in Bloomberg Radio Interview 03 Sept 2011

Where Marc Faber is Investing his Money

Marc Faber is Investing his Money
Bloomnberg TV : So then - but you have a lot of your investments in Asia, Marc. Then what are you doing?
Marc Faber :"...Well, as recently, but I've been lightening up. I still have positions because I don't see a lot of alternatives. I own gold and silver. And I own real estate. And I own equities. But I'm not attracted to buy US treasuries at this stage, although I have to say maybe in the very short run, say the next 10 days to two weeks, treasuries could rebound in kind of a technical rebound. But that isn't the long-term view. I think in the long run, interest rates will go up. And they'll be eventually significantly higher. In my view, the 10-years treasury note yield should be around 5 percent...."

Buy Stocks Because US Dollars Will Be Worthless

Faber ultra-bearish on the long-term fundamentals of the U.S. market bullish on mining and energy companies

Faber sees plenty of money-making opportunities in stocks. Sure, prices aren't as cheap as they were in March, yet he's confident, "in this environment cash will become worthless." As a result, he says investors are, "better off being in equities," for the next two to three years.

Faber is most bullish on mining and energy companies. He recommends:

* Newmont Mining and FreeportMcMoran as relative inexpensive. He also mentions Nova Gold, as another, more speculative buy.
* In a contrarian call, on natural gas, he says Chesapeake Energy will be a winner when prices eventually rebound.
* Oil giant ExxonMobil is another stock he thinks offer good value. Source TechTicker
