Marc Faber : David Rosenberg was right and I was wrong

Marc Faber : I would like to remind you that the 10-year has made a new low. David Rosenberg was right and I was wrong. The 30-Year has not made a new low. The low in December 2008 was 2.53%. Now we’re around 3.4%. Basically we have an artificial market. The Fed has said we guarantee next to zero interest rates for the next two years. Banks and financial institutions are pouring into the 10-year because of the low rates at the present time - in Bloomberg

David Rosenberg , we are just one small shock wave away of having the economy going back into the recession

David Rosenberg , Gluskin Sheff & Associates saya that It has been a sub-par economic recovery,
"the stock market has actually done much better than i thought it would do because ultimately it will get priced off of corporate earnings and corporate earnings have done phenomenally well. the local economy has done far worse because the other component of the economy called labor income has done poorly. i don't think the stock market can stay divorced from the economy indefinitely." David Rosenberg says "...the small caps are part of the cycle. but the point on the overall recovery depends what your assumption is. my assumption is this was a balance sheet recession that we emerged from. so this was not a classic post-world war ii manufacturing inventory cycle that looks almost like a sign wave. if you look at centuries of data you'll find balance sheets of recession, asset deflation, rising savings rates. it's ultimately very deflationary. what you find is the recovery period tends to be fraught with fragility. it's not normal to have two soft patches this close together barely two years after the recession end. it happens in the context of a balance sheet recession. not in the manufacturing inventory cycle. everything is telling you just how soft the underbelly of the economy is. we're just one small shock wave away of having the economy going back into the recession." he added

David Rosenberg , 99% sure Recession by 2012

David Rosenberg , chief economist at Gluskin Sheff & Associates, and former Merrill Lynch North America Chief economist and Former Bank of Canada Chief economist says that he is 99.9% sure that there will be a recession next year that the FED will have to do a QE3 that there is no more room for another fiscal stimulus"I think that by 2012 I give it a 99 percent of occurring " " when you have a manufacturing inventory cycle recessions usually separate 5 years apart , but when you have a balance sheet recession we are talking about credit contraction asset deflation for example residential real estate , when you have these sort of balance sheet recessions the downturn tends to be separated every two , two and half years so I think that by 2012 that will be roughly the time we going to see the next downturn "

David Rosenberg - Inflation , Deflation or both ?

Famed economist and strategist David Rosenberg from Gluskin Sheff & Associates Inc in Toronto on the Financial Sense Newshour 13 May 2011 with Jim Puplava to discuss the US and global economic environment , Inflation and deflation trends. .The trend line in commodities is up says David Rosenberg if China is in a Ponzi scheme that implodes I imagine that will have an impact on demand ...as far as I can see home prices are deflating , the food and fuel prices are inflating but the service sector is in a deflation trend, so we have inflation in some areas of the economy while at the same time we have deflation in others but according to David Deflation is the major trend

David Rosenberg sees QE3 coming

Well known economic bear David Rosenberg, chief economist at Gluskin Sheff & Associates, David believe that the real unemployment rate is actually closer to 12 percent than 9 per cent , the rising consumer spending is mostly due to the rising inflation in food and fuel , David believes that there are great chances that the FED will announce a QE3 may be this sumer or in a year from now....

“When it comes to the stock market as an asset class, in the past two years, there has been an eighty eight percent correlation between the movements in the Feds balance sheet and the direction of the S&P 500.” So, will the Fed inflate the money supply in perpetuity? This could be ugly. I know that I am not going to get on the wrong side of this bubble!

David Rosenberg vs. James Paulsen on U.S. Economy

Oct. 6 (Bloomberg) -- David Rosenberg, chief economist at Gluskin Sheff & Associates Inc., and James Paulsen, chief investment strategist at Minneapolis-based Wells Capital Management, talk with Margaret Brennan about the U.S. economy on Bloomberg Television's ``InBusiness.''gov't spending is calculated the WRONG WAY into GDP: it should be a negative term, not a positive term. so if GDP to debt was 100 trillion vs 50 trillion it's really 50 trillion GDP vs 50 trillion debt (100%).

Nobody seems to be pointing out that the US is fighting 3 battles here - (1) market crash caused by corporate criminals in power, still to be arrested, (2) Free-trade agreements that drained the US middle class of Jobs, and allowed US multinationals to profit greatly on cheap Chinese labor, and (3) The credit / housing bubble that compensated US mainstreet for lack of jobs until it exploded!, thanks to inept polices by the Clinton and Bush adminstrations! 2 & 3 still to be FIXED!!
Paulsen has been bullish going back years. He's always been one to see through rose colored glasses. You could turn it around and say that David Rosenberg is a chronic bear. The problem is that David Rosenberg has been right. He predicted the meltdown and bear market and has been dead on about deflation and bonds being a superior investment. Where I think David Rosenberg may end up being wrong is underestimating Ben Bernanke. I think we end up with hyperinflation. Rosenberg is deflation.what is new is to discover that all nations are willing to have a currency-war debasing all major currencies as a direct and unavoidable response to the job-collapses of free-trade. The consumers are all broke because all their jobs are gone and this problem is PERMANENT. IRREVERSIBLE. Global depression is 100% assured at this point.
